The children were quite excited about opening up the jars to see what had happened. The first thing they noticed was that the milk had seperated into liquids and solids and had a very cheesy smell when the jar was open. The egg was undamaged and didn't smell once we'd rinsed it. The egg in the water was completely unchanged as well. The egg in the cola had turned brown but wasn't cracked at all whereas the egg in the vimto had turned brown and was cracked! When we looked at the egg from the orange juice we were surprised to discover that it wasn't very discoloured but when we rubbed our fingers over the shell, crumbs of shell came off on to our hands!! As for the vinegar, that had completely dissolved the shell. The white was squidgy and slimey and the yolk felt rock hard!!!!!!!! So it's not just sugar that attacks your teeth. Make sure, if you have vinegar on your chips or fresh orange juice for breakfast, that you clean your teeth really well. |
