Year Two Science Experiment on Capillary Attraction

Thanks to white roses from Mrs Newman's garden, the year two children were able to study the principle of capillary attraction - the force that makes the stem act like a straw to draw in water and nutrients.  The children chose their own colours of food colouring and watched their white roses change colour.  They could even see the veins in the leaves.
